I normally skim through long stories... but not yours!  That was emotional!  Thanks for sharing all the details!  Congrats again!  You'll have to post pics of more angles when you get him mounted.

Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

A fantastic reward for a great effort!  As you said,  not all of our shots are as perfect as we wish.  It's what we do after that often makes the difference between soccer's and failure.
Congratulations!

In the end, it is not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. Abraham Lincoln.

Wow. I don't think that's even the same species as I'm hunting.  Glad you found him. Congrats.

Wow~ Took you 4 pages to unload the tale, but what a tale it was!

Thanks for such honest reporting. I'm sure many can benefit from reading of that level of persistence...how often people "give up" based on no blood and perhaps wrongly conclude a non lethal hit.

Your story telling is truly inspirational...and motivational to all who hunt!  Never say never!

I shot a sika in front of the shoulder once...it ran flat out 50 yards to the right, then back past me 50 yards to the left (now it ran a total of 150) then back to me and took a 90* turn straight away and dropped in sight 50 more yards so about 250... In Blackwater Swamp on E. Shore of MD, it made hellish racket in all that water, but it was quite an exciting time!

Stuff happens when shooting.  Animals move, things go wrong, we drop our bow arm to see if we hit...etc, etc, etc...

I'm so happy for you!  Likely gives you pause to think how it could have turned out were it not for one friend's persistence... Good on you both!

Most of us have been there at one time or another and know all too well the rollercoaster of emotions that you experienced. Way to stay with it. Congratulations!

Congratulations on a fine buck, and thanks for sharing the entire story.  You done good..... Really Good.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Fantastic deer!  Congratulations on sticking with it and finding a deer of a several lifetimes!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.
