The success of the traditional hunt, for me, is not measured in in the harvest.
The strategizing, planning, scouting, prep work and absorption of the full hunting experience provide the fulfillment of endeavor.
Typically, don’t release an arrow on a buck but approximately once every three years. Have been to the field over 35 times this deer season with the anticipation of many more outings. As a ground hunter, the odds, as perceived , versus a stand hunter may be a 3:1 disadvantage. Yet, I have been most fortunate to have had 13 separate shot opportunities(5 to 18 yards) on thirteen different bucks. In no way do I wish to imply that I could have harvested even one of these beautiful animals. I have released one arrow this season and that was on a turkey which ended up providing fine table fare. Note: Does will get the green light in December…driven by personal obligation to do my part for game management …I will be in the field anyway.
Can merely recommend to hunt and harvest per your own personal desire and not beyond.
