Marble Dipping
« on: November 23, 2015, 04:23:00 PM »
Hi guys
I've been playing around with marble dipping.
I've been using testers paint.
I get a nice swirl pattern. But I'm struggling with bubbles. I've tried warm and cold water. Dipping it fast and slow. It always takes what looks like a nice swirl pattern and makes it look so unclean with all the bubbles on it.
I've gone to cutting patterns in a sponge and spray painting the sponge and rolling the shaft across it. It has a clean look to it, but it doesn't have the swirl look to it.
What an I missing, how do you do it?

I have found when you get bubbles, it's because you dipped your arrows before all the oxygen bubbles have disipated from the canister.

How many times have you filled up a glass with water to quickly and it was cloudy, then in a few minutes, it's clear again?  That's all the oxygen bubbles in the water making it cloudy.

Next time, fill your cannister slower, and find something to do for a few minutes while the air bubbles disappear.

Best advice I ever received about arrow building, was to not rush building arrows.

Thank you for the replies,
I know that I didn't give the air a chance to clear out. So that's a good point. It was just straight from the garden hose.
From what I read in that build along I wonder if I may have been putting to much paint in the water as well.
This gives me something to experiment with.
Thank you.
Alan

One attempt was warm water from the faucet ( not the hose ) But still I did not let the water sit for a while.
I will try this.
