That's a beautiful buck, Brian. Any time, any day of the season. The wheeze can sure make things interesting on bigger deer. Scares the heck out of the little ones, though.

Every time i've tried the snort/wheeze the buck/bucks have ran the other way…all those deer would have been 2.5-3.5 years old. Beautiful buck by the way. Congrats!

That is a buck I would be proud to tag.  congratulations!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

Looks like a great buck to me! I don't know why but in recent years I have had even better luck with wheezing them in. Might be that I've just gotten better at knowing when to do it but it is very deadly.

Funny story: I bought a call that was a grunt on one end and a snort/wheeze on the other. Sitting in my treestand on November 15, a real big boy came running past, nose to the ground after a doe that had just gone by. I decided that THIS was the moment for the snort wheeze so I reared back and let one loose-- from the wrong end of the call! Instead of Ffft--fft--ffft--FFFF it came out erp--erp--erp--ERRRP. Forunately, he could have cared less about whatever sound I made--the doe was hot and he wasn't paying attention to much else. I was glad there were no human witnesses......
