hog hunting and the joy of retirement...
« on: December 02, 2015, 07:09:00 AM »
Occasionally it is good to sit back and take stock of how fortunate we are to be able to enjoy the things we love after a successful career.

I had the good fortune to learn a trade from my father, not always the easiest thing, as Dads tend to be quite demanding of perfection.

The beginning of my electrical apprenticeship  was at a time when the world was much safer, less hectic, and more fun.

When Dad retired I already had 10 years in, and it was natural for me to continue his small business.

I loved working with the tools and the customer contact. Making folks happy with my work was something I really enjoyed.

Over the next 37 years, I grew the business into a much larger venture than I ever envisioned, and now I'm proud to see my sons running it.

For the last seven years I have been helping other folks be happy by connecting them with some really fun, free range, hog hunting in south Florida. We bowfish too.

I'm away from most of the Wisconsin winters from Jan 1 thru May 1.

I've made some great friends ,many who invite me to hunt at their place.

Together we've had some memorable times, drug out some nice hogs, shot some fish, lunched at the local store, enjoyed campfires, told stories, and thanked the Lord for our good fortunes.

What's better than that?

If you are looking for a fun adventure in a warm spot, away from the crowds, give me a call or text...shoot me an email...and join me this winter.

Love to make new friends and more memories.

My in-laws winter in Bonita Springs and one of these days I want to hunt hogs while I'm down there.  If that happens I will certainly look you up.  Very kind offer.  Merry Christmas

Thought that was you Irv, even before reading the signature. I envy you're ability to get away from winter and enjoy hog hunting. I'm sure we'll meet again before my arrow slinging career is over. Until then, best of luck and continued good health.   :wavey:

Irv, looking forward to hunting with you in January.  It's barely December and all ready I'm tired of winter here in Michigan!

We will be in AZ after Christmas so will not be with you in FL this winter. Good luck with the hunts and I am looking forward to hunting with you again in the future.

Great to hear from all of you.

Hope everyone has a great whitetail season.

And Happy Holidays!

I'm looking forward to some warm weather soon too.

My  friend, Bill Langer, and his friend, Tommy, and I visited twice July and October) to work on the hunt sites and kill a few hogs.

It was plenty warm then.

Thanks again Bill and Tom.

Irv, congrats on your retirement and your success at building a legacy for your children. That's some really good stuff right there! I hope the next chapter brings even more fun, friends, hogs... but less snow!!!

I do hope we get to share some time afield before too much more time passes.
All the best!

Bill Kissner,

I sure enjoyed your hunt because you were so generous as to donate your hog to the local restaurant chef who cooked up a very nice meal for all of us that week.

Great memory.

Thank you.

Dalton,

I enjoyed reading about all the great NC deer adventures that you and Jim and Bill and friends enjoyed.

I would love to try to join you guys next year.

Come see us if you get to Florida again.

Thom,

Thanks for your comments and I wanted to mention how much I enjoyed meeting you and Andrew at Compton's this year.

If any of you guys want to enjoy a great hunt on a much bigger property than we have...please go visit Andrew Harper's operation in South Carolina..."Wild Things".

I really want to hunt there myself.

Heard many good things about it, and Andrew is a true Southern Gentleman.

You that are contemplating a hunt with Irv are in for a good time and great hunt. Irv is an accomplished traditional shooter and hunter himself. He goes overboard to make sure you get shooting opportunities and runs a very reputable operation. I thoroughly enjoyed my hunt with him and will be returning in the future.
