It was a really pretty day yesterday, and I got the day off so I went hunting. Didn't get a deer, but I did get this big jack rabbit.

frank bullitt

Cool!

Small game with bow is the best!

Good job Rick!!! I'm jealous! I'm a big fat "0" so far this year!
An elitist mentality creates discord, even among the elite!
"I went jackalope hunting but all I saw was does!"
Luck is when preparedness meets opportunity, I just need more opportunities!

Longtoke

Nice, still waiting to get my first jack with a bow, they seem to be a little harder to catch than the cotton tails. Jack rabbits are pretty good table fair in the crock pot.

Green

Tall rack on that one.  Congrats!

Just because you are passionate about something, doesn't mean you don't suck at it.

My favorite way to eat jacks are just to grind them up and make nice burgers. You can get a lot of meat off the big ones

YORNOC

You are my hero. On my list.....some day.

nice shooting! Those are so much fun to hunt

Keep em Sharp!

When I was a teen in the 60s we had lots of them in NW Iowa, the larger whitetail variety.  By the mid 70s I saw a distribution map of known breeding populations.  There was one small spot, right exactly where I lived between Sioux Center and Ireton and that was it. I have only seen two in the last twenty years.   The Iowa whitetail variety were bigger and believe it or not better eating than the ones out west.  The way the neighbor lady cooked them, they tasted better than geese and on an open fire spit they were even better.

When hunting with my (then) 10 year old daughter she shouted " Holy crap, I just saw a Jacked Up Bunny!!" So please call it by its proper name    :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:  Nice shot!

You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Thanks fellers. I'm learning some different ways to prepare jacked up bunnies.

Hey Bill the bow I was shooting was a Big Jim's three piece buffalo bow,and yes that is stained quilted maple.

mangonboat

Good shooting > good eating!
mangonboat

I've adopted too many bows that needed a good home.

Sure makes a good pot of chili!

You can lead a human to knowledge, but you can't make him think!

There are plenty of those rascals here in west tx. Still looking to go shoot some. If only I could hunt the golf courses here. They are everywhere there! Good shooting
