Thanks for all the replies guys.
The tip sure looks and sounds like an absolutely awesome bow !

If anybody has done side by side comparison with chrono I would still be interested in that.

Any info on the carbon limbs ?

I've owned both a Widow (PSA) and a Silvertip, which is my current bow. I prefer the Silvertip hands down. I have not chronoed either bow, so I am not sure about speed, but I can't tell any real difference there.

I just shoot the Tip better. It is 2 pounds lighter and 2 inches longer though, so that may make the difference. It is also a bit quieter.

Really, you can't go wrong either way, but personally I would go with the Tip or even a Tall Tines.

On the French trad archery forum you can get all measures.(draw force curve, smoothness etc...)
From a shooting machine 50# 60" drawn at 28" AMO silver tip was measured 183fps for 10 gpp.
BW PSA were measured around 13 fps less than that for same poundage range, gpp ratio and 28" DL all bows set up in hunting conditions ( string wrap, puff silencers medium to high brace height)
you can find there BW PTF is much faster but bow tested was 60" 70# @ 28" (185 fps for 10 gpp/28")
BW PMA 64" in the 45# range is 173 fps for 10 gpp/28")
Schaff TD 64" same 45 # range was 178 fps

As a landmark, in same trial Toelke Lynx recurve, RER from Termatts era, Caribow tuktu EX, Blactail bows, and a few others are speed wise in the very same ball park with Schaff TD recurve bows (within 1-2 fps)

A few others modern recurves are much faster than that speed range though

here are speed specs gpp wise for the TD

you read on left speed in fps on the corresponding ggp ratio down (blue line)

You would be hard pressed to do better...as others have said Schafer are no slacked in the speed department but they are a fine shooting bow with few equals.

I have 2 Tall Tines as well. They are very comparable to a tip. I think the Silvertip is more expensive because of the legacy but I find no difference in workmanship. The Silvertip wood choices are greater and Dave offers a carbon limb upgrade. I think if you can justify the higher priced Tip over the Tall Tines, you will be very pleased. If you want a very comparable performaning bow that resembles a tip, for less money, get a Tall Tines. I'd put them both ahead of a widow.

I have two TT on my rack. TT are great bows and my son shoots and hunts with one. The tips just seem to fit me a little better.

I've had TT, have Silvertip, and several others. My hunting bows are blacktails.

The Tip is well made, grip very nice (although I think a Stalker Schleyer had the best grip I ever shot), and the bow is like others above among the top in FPS.

I should hunt or sell the Silvertip instead of just plinking with it a few times per year. It is a beautiful bow and could be anyone's only bow.  I hesitate to sell it because I'd almost surely loose $600 at least. Rather look at it than take that beating.

I had a couple tips, both FF and 60" he last was a double carbon, it was a screamer but I never ran it through a chrono, but it was fast. BUT I could never get it as quiet as I felt it needed to be and I tried everything. I finally sold it and have gone back to my widow PSA, which to me, is the best hunting recurve I have ever owned, i don't see me straying. But I did like the looks of the tip a lot..

What was the draw weight at 31.5"? Just curious.... [/b]
Those numbers were from a couple yrs ago, and I didn't have a scale, but bought one shortly after. It's actually a few lbs less, I'll check it when I get a chance.

Scales 50# @ 30" and 55# @ 31.5. I assume would be a couple more #'s with 3 fingers on the string.
