Couple years back I settled on a standard for hunting deer:  red cock, yellow hens, yellow nock.  Crown is a yellow leather stain and the shaft is pecan stain.

Have you ever noticed that the words listen and silent have the same letters?

I settled on red fletching years ago...used to do gray cock and red hen...but now just three red fletchings

There are exceptions when using goose feathers...or making up some primitive cane arrows with obsidian heads.

For my GO TO setup for past 20 years...darker stained douglas fir shafts...red barred fletching...flourescent green snap on nocks.

Does anyone use a different fletch for their blunts than they do their BHs?

Arctic Hunter

All three green barred. Sometimes I throw a traditional or yellow barred cock feather on there too. Mostly just to remember which arrows are which.

I was unaware there was a different color than pink or white..  ;)

I shoot whatever I have, but i really like the look of pink.  I like white also, but I think I like pink more now.

It depends on which bow I am shooting. For bows that shoot 50-55# spine arrows, I have orange somewhere in the color scheme. For 55-60# I have black and natural fletching. For the 75 - 80# spined arrows I use yellow. This is not yet totally uniform since I have lots of partial groups of arrows left over from arrow sets before I decided to color code them. Unfortunately, I have many arrows that haven't been used in so long, I don't remember the spine or the bows they were used with.

I'm with you there, Sam!    :banghead:

I see bright yellow in flight the best, so I think that will be my go to hunting arrows from now on. I've tried white, white/yellow, orange, orange/yellow, yellow/black, pink, etc. Pink is easy to find on the ground, but I can't see it in flight for doodly squat. Bright yellow feathers with fluorescent orange nocks are the easiest for me to see in flight. I also use reflective tape for cresting, so if I do lose track of one, I can usually go back at night and find it. I don't think I've lost one since I started doing that, so I worry more about seeing the arrow in flight than on the ground.

BTW: my preferred color is orange...the color yellow feathers are after a pass-through the lungs of a whitetail!
