Where Is My Tracking Snow?
« on: December 08, 2015, 01:49:00 PM »
I have December 13th thru 19th off from work and plan to still hunt and stalk bambi... My Predator Fall Grey is great for that application, with some snow on the ground... Where Is It?!

I'm off the 21st through the 1st, hoping for the same myself, even if it's 50 today.

I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas, I do not like to hunt on snow.
Where switch grass stands high and is fairly dry,
to go hunt pheasants with my bow.

No snow "anywhere" in WI! The southern half of the state will be at or near 50 this weekend.

I can stalk a deer much quieter on mowed grass than I can on crunchy snow and gets less tired doing it.

On todays hunt I saw many insect species and the woods were still full of robins . Still had some woodcock up here on Thanksgiving week. I already have meat in the freezer so as far as Im concerned, the snow can stay right where it is, somewhere else.

After many many years of snow in Central NY I rejoice each morning when I wake to see green instead of white.  AMEN AMEN AMEN.

Good luck Mike.

I would be OK if the snow held off for another month.  Then on January 8th we get a dusting.  Then thats it for the year.

Just like you,  work stinks when it snows.  Unlike you, I have to deal with it when you are off hunting LOL.

Have a  great time, You deserve it!  Also be sure to send your deer hero pics with you in your PJ hunting attire.
Relax,

You'll live longer!

Mikey, please don't make your snow request known to that Catskill mountain, hill billy Woodchuck. He'll cover us up if he does his dance. I don't need it.

I was deer hunting my favorite rabbit hunting spot yesterday and heard a few bunnies running in the leaves but was hard pressed to see them without snow and all of the sun that was reflected from the berry bushes. You know what? Im OK with that.     :knothead:

We have had a dry fall, but the snow that we have had makes me remember why I go to the desert. Having frozen my nards off for many years, a little time in the beautiful Sonoran desert is very inviting. The only people there who know what a snow shovel is are the other snowbirds. Unlimited stump shooting in mid winter is pretty dang appealing.
