USPS "lost" my bow.
« on: December 10, 2015, 10:43:00 AM »
once more we see the USPS has no ability to do its job.
They managed to "lose" the black widow bow i just bought. it made it to Kent WA and it just poofed away.seems valuable items tend to just get "lost" often during this time of year.
Luckily it is insured, so be sure to always insure.
it's still under investigation so well see what happens.

Let's hope there is a simple fix.  USPS 'lost' a bow I ordered about two years ago.  Turns out the carrier dropped it off at a house several miles from mine.  Nothing similar in our addresses, so no explanation on missed address.  Fortunately the folks at the wrong address returned from vacation.  Found the package (that was supposed to be signed for), and drove it over to my house.  USPS never had a clue.

I see a lot on TV about people stealing packages from homes, they will follow the trucks to see if packages get dropped off.I pay alittle extra for a signature confirmation, that way if nobody is there to receive it they will leave a note it is to be picked up at the post office.Especially this time of the year for a more expensive item.I hope it works out for.

I feel for ya. I've done deals on the classifieds and they take two weeks just to get a letter where it's going.

They just lost one of mine as well and a pair of Schnee's boots last year. I have lost confidence in them.

2nd day air, costs more but so far so good. 2nd day air means less hands handle the item.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Insurance and delivery confirmation / signature required on high priced items is a must. I hope it turns up for you.

I shipped a bow to Europe and it made it there in 3 days. Shipped another to Montana and it got there in 2 weeks. Both were shipped USPS Priority Mail and insured. I sure hope your bow turns up, it also helps to get a USPS manager to help you out.

Stuff happens.  I've sent or received near 40 bows in the last 20 years via USPS.  One time, a bow tip came sticking out of the tube, but undamaged.  Never had a problem.

I like how they advertise 2-3 delivery for Priority Mail.  Thats what u pay for.  But when it doesnt happen, 'We dont guarantee that."

THEN DONT ADVERTISE IT

Well 29 hours after my conversation with an Agent my bow appeared at my door. no additional tracking data, amazingly enough. it did have a new scan code stuck over the old one.
Have a feeling being nice to the supervisor helped grease the gears. and once they found it they rushed it.

Always,always, insure and signature confirmation.
i am sure i got extremely lucky to not have to use that insurance.

Very glad it all turned out. I had a similar experience with them. It was a different kind of order, but like you say after I went down and talked with them the package showed up.

This year has been the worst yet for me.  I had a bow stolen at the Houston USPS hub.  An empty bow box came to the local post office.  My postman would not delivery the empty box.  I did get the insurance money.  Then I tried to purchase a bow from Ontario by MO.  The letter got lost.  I gave up after two months and have got my money back from the USPS.  Up till this past year I have never had any issues.  I sure hope this is not the sign of future of shipping...

I dropped an original Paul Shaffer Silvertip onto a gravel road, and dinged it to the point I wanted to have it refinished.  Talked to Paul, and sent it UPS, insured for $350.00.  About three days later Paul called and said the bow had been broken right up through` the center of the handle.  The package
had something dropped on it, and was damaged.  He notified UPS, they  picked up the bow, several days later a UPS claims rep called me.  He said I over insured the item and offered me $100.00.  We had quite a conversation, as I made my living as an insurance company claims rep.  After several calls, and a letter from Paul about the cost for a new bow, I was received a $350.00 check from UPS.  Good ending, just had trouble getting there.
