Finally decided to give it a try out at my Dad's place. Found out no one was hunting a detached piece of 97 acres that is very steep, thick with Rhodies, and has only a narrow strip along the top that is flat and a few open areas.
This area has a lot of bears, but has also become a bit of a sanctuary for deer since it doesn't get hunted much. I sat near the location of where I shot my first deer as a kid. It now has some big evergreens scattered throughout, and the deer meander through.
I wasn't there long, and I heard this buck coming from behind me on my left side. Perfect.
I looked for some opening he might be coming through. He was coming, I drew and focused on an opening. When he stepped in, I bleated with my mouth, he stopped, and the arrow was on the way.
Made the same shot that put two other deer in the freezer earlier this year. Just behind the shoulder, double lung and Pulmonary artery. After an 80 yard dash it was done.
Got him cut up and in the freezer by this evening.
