Fox Royal Crown / anymore pics out there?
« on: December 13, 2015, 02:54:00 PM »
I called Ron a few days ago and I ordered one. He took a lot of time going over wood options and what does and doesn't go good together. He is a real pleasure to work with. I settled on juniper limbs with a bacote/ paduk handle. While I have never shot one of his Longbows I have shot a few recurves and owned a Breed.I shot a lot of deer with that bow but it just got to stout for me.What do you guys that have shot one of his Royal Crowns think of them. Some pics would be nice also.
Thanks
Steve Jr

Although I personally haven't shot one, your chosen wood combo sounds sweet!

I owned one. It had the shelf on the wrong side after I switched to lefty, but was one really sweet shooting bow. Bet you're going to be very happy.

I love my Royal Crown. It is light and feels like part of my body when I have it in my hand. Ron is a first class guy and the Royal Crown is an awesome bow. Feel free to pm me if you have any questions.

Great looking bow. I have never had the opportunity to shoot one, but hear good things about them.
I did contact Ron once about building one. He was very generous with his time and help. I can see one in my future.

The Royal Crown is a great bow.  The Triple Crown is worth a look too.

Thanks fellows for the kind words. Steve jr, the Royalcrown is a great bow, and I am quite  pleased with it's performance. I ordered my Royalcrown from Ron King at the PBS Banquet back in 2008 in Pittsburg PA. I received my bow that fall just before the Maryland hunting season, and I went out and took 6 deer that same year with it. No, Ron did not put the inserts in the riser, that is my own doing. I do think you will like your Royalcrown, not to mention that Ron and Debbie king is two of the finest people you could ever meet. Good luck with your new bow.

I looked at the Triple Crown Moots but Ron doesn't build that in a 58" length. I'm a short guy 5'3"and 58" is my (wheel house) length. I asked Ron if he could bring something close to what I ordered to Kalamazoo so I could get a idea of what I'm getting. The detail in Ron's bows is awesome!

The grip on the Royal Crown is just incredibly consistent.  You can only put your hand in it one way.  IMO it is one of the best Hybrid bows out there.  VERY quiet!  For an archer that likes recurves or comes from that style of grip, this bow gives him that "feel" with the ease of shooting of the hybrid limbs.  Mine was a cool bow.  I went thru WAY too many bows in the past when in the "throes of TP".  It is the "in-between" of trad bows...
