Spine help please
« on: December 14, 2015, 07:36:00 PM »
I shoot a 45# Bear Montana, I believe it is cut to center. I'll probably shoot  175 up front. My dl is 29" so arrows should be 30" or more. Bow has a TenRingString.

I'm thinking of using CE Heritage shafts.
Thanks
Toby

Start with uncut 500s and you'll do just fine.

I like CE 150's,but I don't know if you will be able to get by with a 175 grain tip. I think I have a similar setup and have 250 grain up front. I'm not drawing that far thought, but those arrows were left full length.

I would get the CE 90s.  Montanas have a smaller shelf.  I believe the 90's are a .530 spine.  They should shoot great out of your bow.  Like others have said...do not cut the arrows until you shoot and see how they react and fly.

Getting a test kit from 3rivers is not a bad idea. I got a new Black Widow this fall, 45#@28, 60". I also draw 29". I tuned arrows to a similiar bow while at the shop ordering mine. I came home and ordered a dozen CE heritage 150's. Once I got my actual bow I tried to tune it with the shafts. Too weak. I had them cut repeatedly and finally ended up with too short of an arrow to use and still too weak. Had to order a new dozen of the 250's. I've got those flying perfect now. But a test kit could've saved me time and alot of cash.
Good luck and Happy Holidays!
