i have a carsage recurve (cartel riser, samick sage limbs) that is 45#@28".I am shooting a flipper style rest.i want to shoot a 28-29" arrow with a 125 grain tip up front.would a 600 spine arrow be alright for those specs? or would a 500 spine arrow be better?

I think you're gonna need a little more tip weight for a 500

if 28" is your draw length and you are going to immediately cut the arrows, I would say that 500's with 125 up front will be stiff cut to 28. At .600 might be closer. You could probably shoot a 1916 cut to around 29 with 125 grain points and tune them for that bow.

If it is cut way past center, then stiffer, .500's are better. Leave me long and trim down as you tune.

With a standard aluminum insert and 125gr tip, I would think you need to go with the .600 spine. Also, let tuning tell you where to cut the shaft. Start with full length, and cut if needed till tune is correct.

All depends on how much the spine needs to flex around your riser upon release. Do you know how much or if your shelf is cut to or past center?
Big Jim sells single shafts and 3rivers has arrow spine test kits.

With a flipper rest and an adjustable plunger depth for center shot, you should be able to shoot either one with the right adjustment.
