OK,OK, I just got home from skinning the deer. As most of ya know I have had access to 38 acres in a prime bow-hunting only area. Well this year, the guy who has hunted the other part of the property(112)acres retired and moved to Arizona. The farmer was nice enough to let me have the whole 150 acres to myself. I have not hunted it much this year as it is early, but I did sit it with Damon and he shot a doe on Sat. Yesterday after work I went in and it was hot, I actually stripped down to my undies and walked to the stand that way carrying my hunting clothes as I always do. I set up in a bottom overlooking two apple trees that are dripping with apples. At 5pm, I hear deer on a ridge across from me as they feed on acorns. I see 3 does and a buck, actually a decent buck. I hit the grunt real light and they hear it, but continue to feed away. I settle back in and the wind stays steady out of the NW, blowing up the hill behind me. Be back in a few to finish, I will not drag this out! Shawn

At 5:30 I hear something coming down the cut out path I walked in on, if it is a deer they must be deaf, dumb and blind as the wind is blowing right at them and I am on eye level for quite a ways on the way down that path. I turn to see a monster standing at 15 yards staring down hill and checking something out. There is another deer that got thru the opening that I did not see. This deer is basically at the base of my tree. The first deer turns and goes thru an opening at 10 yards and stops broadside, giving me a great op. I hold off, the second deer is now broadside and paralleling the other on the hill side but is 8-10ft. away. It is a bit thick but I know I can squeeeze one thru. I hit anchor and pick my spot tight forward and high on its back, just below the spine. I let my fingers slip from the string and it is not quite perfect but blows thru the shoulder and slams into the off shoulder. A quick sprint with arrow snapping off and flying through the air, it is over. I sit a few minutes and climb down, no need for a tracking job. I walk over to my prize, a nice healthy 1.5 year old doe, still with Mom from last year. Sorry to disapoint you guys, but the big buck is coming. I took a few pics when I skinned and quartered it and will try and post tomorrow. A bud of mine just shot a big buck and I am gonna go over and check it out in a while. Thanks for the kind words!! By the way the Snuffer destroyed both shoulders. It broke the off leg bone where it meats the cartilage at the shoulder.  I am so happy as I did not know if I would evem hunt this year with my shoulders. As it turns out I have to have my left one done pretty quick, but I told the doc.I was hunting the rest of the season if it kills me. Shawn

Mike, it was actually stand number 2 of the 19 that I have on that 38 acres. I only have 12 on the 112 acres but that will change with time. I  know of two P+Y bucks in the areas I hunt!Curt, you know the stand, you had a couple spikes go by ya in it and no lane, well I put up a portable and cleared more lanes so ya can shoot the curve from it.
