« on: January 24, 2010, 05:48:00 PM »
Well had a perfect day to hunt Friday night, had the set up just perfect.had the deer timed perfect.and about 20 min before they would arrive a orange Garfield looking cat comes walking up my trail I use to enter my area( I hunt very rural area).Squirrels go bananas birds freak out,and the kicker was he walks straight down the trail that the deer come in on all the way to the swamp.Oh and didnt see anything,Total frustration! hopefully next time.   :(

And in the end when i can no longer draw the bow or watch the arrow embark on its flight;when i posses only the spirit of the hunter, i will hunt.... if only in my dreams... because the hunt is born amidst my soul, and i... i am the hunter

I have seen deer blow at house cats and bobcats but it surely hasen't stopped them from using a trail that I have seen them use.  :saywhat:

At least you saw something  :archer:

Doubt if you can blame the cat.

I had the wind in my favor and was covered by a big oak and a holy tree.I had the same three deer come down the same trail. This is a residential area that these deer are extremely on edge,These deer are walking to a patch of grass between 4:20 and 4:40 every day.and this cat walked straight down their trail to the swamp that they bed in.They come from the west  and I enter from the east. The wind was a west wind @ 5-7mph All my cover is on the west side of me.I was in my stand @ 3:00  and I have never seen this cat in my area before If he didnt spook them Than I dont know what did.

Can't beleive it was the cat.  I've saw deer after seeing coyotes come thru the area.

Maybe one of those days they weren't moving early.

Gary you could be right something could have happened before I even got their. But it's just odd that he would go that route and they wouldn't show.I am hunting it again on Tuesday maybe things will be different.   :archer:

I've seen cats and deer nose to nose....... I think we are thinking a tad too hard on this one... a dog would be a different story....deer are comfortable around coons, opossums, etc....

Had hunts busted by dogs before, but never a cat. Just part of it I suppose. Hope it works out for you better on the next one.

I don't think it had anything to do with the cat.

With the squirrels and birds going bonkers, I can believe that it would keep the deer under cover. Hap
